BE PEACEFUL

“But the children of Belial said, how shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.”  1 Samuel 10:27 (KJV)
Although Samuel, a highly revered priest of God, anointed Saul as king and also confirmed to the Isrealites that he was chosen by God to be their leader, not everyone was happy to accept, co-operate and work with Saul as Isreal’s king. So, the fact that they all prayed for God to save him (v24) was no guarantee that there was no opposition to his kingship.

The children of Belial (1 Sam 10:27) is translated as ‘the children of the devil’ in Hebrew. It can also mean ‘worthless men’. Being placed in a position of leadership and authority does not mean that everyone will celebrate you always or give you the necessary support you need to succeed in your assignment. The devil and his agents will want to fight you. He may even use people who were submissive and loyal to you in the past to fight your leadership. The purpose is to break your focus and ruin your leadership; but like Saul did, remain focused and refuse to be distracted.

Do you feel people oppose your leadership because they despise you as a leader? Do not be discouraged. Remain focused and be at peace with yourself and others and the God of peace whom you serve will handle those who oppose and despise you.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to remain peaceful even when despised in Jesus name, Amen.
FAITH BYTE:
The peace of God that transcends all human understanding abides with me always even in the face of opposition.
