SERVICE TO GOD

Scripture: 2 Samuel 6:1-12
“And the ark of the Lord continued in the house Obed-edom he Gittite three months: and the Lord blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.” 2 Samuel 6:11 (KJV)

Service is an act done willingly or compulsorily. When the act of service is carried out compulsorily, it may be done with a lack of passion and enthusiasm that can lead to complacency. However, when service is carried out willingly, it is done with a joy and hope that opens the door for the one serving to reap the benefits attached to service.
The ark of covenant symbolized the presence of God with the people of Israel. It inspired fear and worship. It required full preparation both bodily and spiritually to approach the ark of God because going carelessly before it could cause instant death (v.7). But going before it reverently and in worship could cause prosperity and wealth (v11). Both Uzzah and Obededom offered their services to God; one lost his life and the latter was prospered with his whole household because of their manner of service.

What is the quality of your service to God? Do you serve God with complaints and regret (v.8), or you serve the Lord rejoicing (v14, 17). Are you serving God with reverence, deep respect and appreciation? Are you deeply motivated to serve God for who He is and in accordance with true worship? Serve God in obedience, and worship Him in spirit and in truth and great shall be your peace and blessings.

PRAYER:
Lord, I offer my life and service to you unconditionally. Use me as you deem fit in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE:
I am a living sacrifice unto God.
