TRAIN A CHILD

“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

When a child displays an unpleasant character, people tend to blame it on a lack of home training. Because parents are chiefly responsible for a child’s training, they are to ensure their children are adequately trained at home. Parents need to realize that they are mere caretakers and therefore, see their children as God’s property. Thus, they are to bring their children up in a godly way.

Training a child demands deliberate effort from parents. How a child turns out is thought to be largely dependent on his upbringing, therefore, a spoilt child is said to be a product of inadequate training. How are you training your child? Eli as God’s servant ministered unto the Lord but failed in his duty as a parent. He was feeble in his actions regarding his children. He spoke against their evil ways but there was no follow up action to ensure they stopped their wicked act. When your child acts wrongly, ensure that the child is corrected immediately; it may be dangerous to wait to do so at a later time.

Make a conscious effort to adequately train your child. Your child’s character speaks volume of your job as a parent. Ask for the grace to be able to give your child, including your ward, the kind of training God expects you to give to them. Remember, you will give account of the children God has put under your care. Do not become complacent with God’s property.

PRAYER:
Lord, I receive the grace to train up everyone that God has put under my care in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE:
My children shall be taught of the Lord.
