LOYAL EMPLOYEE

“And whatever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”  Colossians 3:23(KJV)

When Paul speaks of slavery, he refers to all forms of employment. Slavery is used as it was the lowest form of employment at that time. As demeaning and condescending as slavery was, Paul encouraged employees to represent God in their service to their employers irrespective of how they were treated by them. He reminds them that the same level of perfection is demanded of the free and the bond.
Today, it is difficult to find loyal people to work with. Employees, sometimes, steal from or cheat their employers. They are unconcerned as to how their actions affect their employers. They are simply interested in their remuneration. They fail to realize that their actions and behaviour can ultimately negatively impact the establishment they work for. This ungodly manner of behaviour should be unheard of among children of God.

Are you employed? What example do you set as an employee? Will your actions and behavior attract others to Christ through the example you set in the workplace? You are not excused because your boss is mean or because your wages are not being paid regularly. God will deal with your boss in his own way. Use the opportunity of your peculiar situation to reach out to fellow employees and to your boss. As you do this, God will release his favour and blessing on you. Remember, God is your source and not your job, income or employer.

PRAYER:
Lord, give me the grace to represent you faithfully in the marketplace in Jesus name, Amen.

FAITH BYTE:
I represent Christ in all I do, therefore, I prosper.
