DO NOT BE PRESUMPTUOUS

Scripture: Joshua 7:1-12
“And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously.” Deuteronomy 17:13 (KJV)

Joshua and his army just had a remarkable victory over Jericho. They were in high spirits and full of confidence. This made them approach their next conquest with levity. “It is a small city” they said, “we can take it with a few soldiers”. They forgot their victory had nothing to do with the size of the enemy but that God was with them. Only when they had been soundly defeated did they do what they should have done first…seek God.

God will never give you an assignment for which you will not need him. When something looks easy to accomplish, that is when you ought to pray the most. You must be sure you are doing what God wants you to do, the way he wants you to do it and when he wants you to do it. If Joshua has sought God’s face on the strategy for approaching Ai God would have warned him about the sin in Israel. God accused the entire Israel of sin and not just Achan, because they had fallen into the sin of presumption.

Samson was presumptions and it cost him his eyes (Jdg. 16:20-21). David was never presumptions and inquired of God for every battle and every action he took (ISam23:1-12, 2Sam 5:18-25). This is why he never lost a battle. Seek God first in whatever you do, from the simplest to the complex task. This way you have good success in all you do.

PRAYER:
Lord, help to always seek you before embarking on any venture in Jesus name, Amen.

FAITH BYTE:
I am not careless, I seek God face daily; I work with God everyday.
