LEARN FROM PAST MISTAKES

Scripture: Joshua 2:1-3, 22-24
“Who can detect his own mistake? Cleanse me from hidden sin.”  Psalm 19:12 (ISV)

Feedback: Share how you play your part to ensure your generation will not be lost in hell.

The only thing worse than making mistakes in life is doing nothing at all. If you do not make any attempt you will never make any mistake, but then you will never learn. Thomas Edison made over 700 attempts before he discovered how to make the light bulb. When asked why he kept going on, he replied “I have learnt 700 ways how not to make a light bulb”. No one should be afraid of making mistakes but you must be willing to learn from your mistakes and move on.

The first time the Israelites approached the promise land to possess it, Moses sent out spies publicly to gather information about the land and the people they were to displace. This event backfired as most of the spies returned with an evil report, discouraged the heart of the people and led them into a rebellion against God. Joshua was privy to this and during the second time of asking, he used a different approach. He sent out spies privately and made them report to him in private. Whatever report they brought was for his ears only and he only, will decide how to use it.

Joshua showed clearly that he had learnt from the event of the past. He knew how to adapt and make corrections. The historical events in the bible are recorded for us to learn from. So, we do not make the same mistake that was made in the past. But if you do not study the bible, you will end up making the same mistake. The reason history repeats itself is because people fail to learn from the past. Learn from your mistakes and that of others and you will progress faster in life.

Reflection: Is there any area in my life am running in cycle?

PRAYER:
Lord, you make all things work for my good, even my mistakes. Help me to learn from them in Jesus name, Amen.

FAITH BYTE:
I learn from my mistakes, my past does not hold me back.
