GENUINE FRIENDS

Scripture: 1 Samuel 19:1-6
“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” Proverbs 18:24 (NIV)

We have been created as social beings with the ability and need to interact with one another. As we go through life, we come across different people that we eventually become attached to and grow to become friends. A friend is someone whom you know and with whom you share a bond of mutual understanding. A true friend is reliable, sincere and dependable. That is such friendship that will benefit both parties involved. We all need genuine friends.

David had a true friend in Jonathan and this saved his life on more than one occasion (1 Sam. 19:4-6). The story of David’s survival from King Saul can never be complete without mentioning Jonathan. A Friend that will stand up for his/her comrade’s defense and support in adverse circumstances is hard to find and even harder to become ourselves. No matter your calling in Christ and your current status, the kind of friends you have will have significant impact in your life.

As a friend, have you been reliable and consistent? Review your friendships. If there are areas for improvement, start with improving yourself. Appreciate your true friends and endeavour to let the bad ones go. Just like David, everyone needs dependable and genuine friends.

PRAYER:
Lord, bless me with genuine and true friendships in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE:
I am blessed with good friends and I fully enjoy God’s favour and grace in all my relationships.
