DOING GOOD ALWAYS

Scripture: 2 Samuel 21:1-9
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not  give up.” Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

Our actions today are seeds for the future. Every good thing we do has its reward. Some may be in our life time while others may be in the lives of our children. Keep doing well irrespective of the timing of the circumstance, for good deeds outlast their performers.

Jonathan was a very close and genuine friend of David while he lived. Several times, Jonathan took decisions that saved David’s life from the wrath of his own father, King Saul. Now, after Jonathan’s death when David was now King, the Gibeonites requested for the lives of seven sons from the house of Saul to atone for their father’s sins. The life of Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth, was in return spared by David (v7).

We cannot let ourselves be motivated only by immediate reward before we take decisions that will bless others around us. We can actually predict and enforce a good future for ourselves and our unborn generations by the good works that we perform today. Give and help people around you freely whenever it is in your power to do so. God is watching, he never owes anyone, he will surely reward every good thing you do (Rom. 2:6-11).

PRAYER
Lord, bless me with a selfless heart and the grace to express your love through my good works in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE
I do good freely to others; therefore I continually enjoy the goodness of the Lord.
