Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:14-19
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal; The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” 2 Timothy 2:19 (KJV)
The kind of structure or building we plan to put in place will determine the type of foundation to use. This is because the foundation itself will determine the strength, stability and longevity of the structure.
Therefore, if we desire a building to stand the test of time and withstand the ravages of nature, we will ensure to choose the right foundation to build on.
As spiritual beings, we must also assess the foundation on which our lives are based for it also affects the rest of our lives. If we desire to build a secure and meaningful life, we must build and hide our lives in Christ. The passage, today, reminds us that the foundation of God is sure. It is sure because his principles, precepts and laws are unchanging. From generation to generation, they remain in operation. He does not lower or change his standards to suit his mood or any individual. He remains faithful so we can count on him not to fail us.
On what do you build your business, career or family? Do you hope that your strength, intellect, beauty, wit or charisma will sail you through the dangerous waters of life? This is far from the truth. A life that depends on the whim, ingenuity and strength of man is a life destined for misery and pain. Build your life on God’s foundation of love, truth and godliness. This is the foundation that secures you a life of peace and prosperity.
