INTERCEDE FOR THE CHURCH

Scripture: Daniel 9:1-19

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf…” I Timothy 2:1 (NLT)

The end time is near, and the Church, more than ever before, is experiencing many of the signs foretold in scriptures. Many false prophets abound in our midst. Innocent and naive Christians are deceived with false teachings and doctrines. Many other believers, who are mature and committed to the faith are intimidated, persecuted and even killed in various parts of the world.
The word of God has been completely watered down, distorted and philosophized. Teachings on holiness and righteousness have been relegated and abandoned in favour of teachings on prosperity. Some people hide under the guise of Christianity to deceive others. The love for God has waned in the hearts of many and rather than seek God for who he is, many seek him for miracles, signs and wonders. Personal gain and gratification have become the major motivations to many church goers.

As worrisome as the state of the church is, it is still believers that can bring the change that it needs? We must intercede for the church and her leaders. It is our responsibility to stand in the gap (Ezekiel 22:30; 2 Chronicles 7:14). As members of the church, we must acknowledge our faults, repent of them and seek for God’s mercies. As we pray and act together, God will act in our midst to prepare a church that is ready to meet Jesus without blemish.

PRAYER: Lord, make me a part of the army that will always fight on my knees to prepare a church ready for your coming in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I am a true Christian. I intercede always for the church and her leaders.
