Scripture: 1 Timothy 6:11-16
“But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” 1 Timothy 6:11 (NLT)
We live in a society where nothing seems to be evil anymore. Perverse behaviours and actions that were unthinkable in the past are permitted and celebrated in the world. There is a high level of compromise even in the body of Christ. We must refuse to condone these or allow them corrupt and influence our thinking or perspective.
As children of light, we are to pursue righteousness at all cost. The darkness and pattern of this world will never converge with the values of God’s kingdom of light. It is God’s desire that we pursue perfection; that way we can be a true representation of God here on earth. We must promote his kingdom of righteousness and love. Let no one find fault in us or in our actions and words (v14). We must stand out in character, behaviour and lifestyle. The bible must be our unshakable standard. We must not be easily swayed by the permissive mindset of the world.
Stay right and remain connected to the salvation you received from God, do not let anything lead you astray, remain true to your confession of faith. Do not entangle yourself with the affairs of this world again. Do not let the commandments of God slip off your mind, rather hold tight to your belief in God. The world needs manifestation of the light of God in us. Impose your light on the world instead of the world influencing you negatively.
