LOYALTY PAYS

Scripture: Proverbs 3:1-12

“Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!...” Proverbs 3:3 (NLT)

Feedback: Consider what it will take to always say the right words

Many people stay committed to things or people simply because they believe and expect they will receive favours from them. They do not believe in going through the thick and thin in any matter or relationship. For these people, if there is nothing to gain, then there is no place for them. Our commitment to anything should go beyond benefits,
it should be driven and motivated by love, it should stand the test of time and the wave of trials. This is the kind of loyalty God asks of us.

As a Christian, loyalty is a basic quality that you should have whether in your service to God, man or any righteous cause ((Proverbs 17:17: Romans 3:1-2). This does not mean that you should compromise your faith in order to remain loyal or committed. It means you should know when to draw the line while being respectful, faithful, dependable and trustworthy. Some people hang unto others as long as they are receiving favours but if the table turns on the fortunes of the people they are loyal to, they desert. Such loyalty is built on ulterior motives. God wants from us the loyalty that emanates from a sincere heart and without expectations.

Your relationship with God and man should be that which depicts loyalty on your own part (Titus 3:1-2). Learn to stay loyal and committed to people or causes you believe in. Let it be deeply rooted in your heart (v3) and as you do so, you will not only find favour before God and men, you will earn for yourself a good reputation (v4).

Reflection: Are there character traits in me that could affect my loyalty?

PRAYER: Lord, may my loyal service to others be firmly rooted in you, in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I am loyal to the people God has brought into my life and I am in favored with God and man.

This Week Walk of Faith: Express your loyalty to God; share the goodnews to 2 people this week.
